Natural Periodontal Disease Prevention

If you have been thinking that it seems like more and more people are prone to allergies, either respiratory or skin, you are right.  In recent history, people are developing allergies to all sorts of man made chemicals.  Commonly used things like medical tape and medicinal ointments are creating skin reactions.  Other medications often come with warning labels to indicate potential problems.  The dental community isn't immune either.  Have you ever wondered why toothpaste has a warning label?  Some of the ingredients are potentially dangerous to your health.  If you really want to clean and care for your teeth and gums, periodontal disease prevention should start with all natural dental products.

Most people forget that our modern conveniences didn't always exist.  Before the mass production of dental products, gum disease was fought the natural way.  Things like baking soda and hydrogen peroxide were often used.  Essential oils are also wonderful for cleaning and conditioning the teeth and gums.  Almond, peppermint, and spearmint in particular have healing properties that can't be beat in your quest for a disease free mouth.

The use of all natural oils and ingredients isn't limited to just dental disease prevention and cleaning the teeth and gums.  All natural ingredients can also be used for teeth whitening.  Many people prefer this method of teeth lightening because it is gentler and just as effective, if not more so, than the chemical based over the counter whiteners.  There is no longer any need to put your health at risk with unsafe products.

If you choose to go the oil based dental product route, it helps to know that your brushing habits will chance just a little.  You will still use a toothbrush to battle gum disease, but instead of a thick paste, you will only need a drop or two of the essential oils on your brush.  It won't take you long to get in the habit of cleaning and conditioning your teeth and gums this way.

For the best results from your periodontal disease prevention plan, consider retiring your old fashioned toothpaste and choose an even older method of caring for your teeth and gums.
