STRANGE STORIES

If you know a doctor or a lawyer and they’re one of your drinking buddies, they always have the strangest stories to tell you.  My friend Ryan is a personal injury attorney and he told me about this client had last year that was suing for medical malpractice.  He was an older guy in his early 20s and he finally had to go and get braces.  Obviously, that was somewhat embarrassing for him, but he had to do what he had to do.  The problem was that the orthodontist who put on his braces turned out not to have been an orthodontist at all.  And he only found out about this fact a year after having his braces put on.  The medical office where this fake orthodontist had worked had no idea that he’d supplied false credentials.  He’d worked there for 3 years.  How did they all find out?  The secretary was doing some work and, one day, while this guy was off work, she was trying to track him down to ask a few questions and made a few calls and one thing led to another.  Ryan thought the whole thing was insane and I agree.  Why would anyone try to pass themselves off as an orthodontist?  So this client had to get those braces pulled off and got another set put back on.  I don’t blame him for being upset.
